MOBILE, AL (July 18, 2007) - Earlier today, Hancock Bank of
Alabama officers announced Mobile and South Mississippi businessman
Dwain Gregory (Greg) Luce, Jr., as the newest local business
and civic leader named to the company's Alabama board of directors.
Luce - currently president of Luce Packing Company in Mobile
and president and chairman of the board for Mississippi Export
Railroad Company in Moss Point, MS since 1986 - joins business
consultant and retired Degussa Corporation vice president
Charles E. Story, Alabama Power Company Mobile Division Vice
President Cheryl Thompson, Mobile commercial law attorney
C. Richard Wilkins, and retired Chevron executive Rod Hartung
as a regional director for the 108-year-old financial services
leader.
"We
are honored that Greg Luce will contribute his business acumen
and knowledge of Mobile and the Mississippi Gulf Coast to
help guide Hancock's growth in southern Alabama. He and the
other accomplished members of our Alabama board have demonstrated
exemplary commitment to facilitating commerce and opportunities
throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties. They know and understand
our communities and will remain invaluable resources as Hancock
expands its comprehensive financial services network and community
partnerships across the area," said Hancock Bank of Alabama
Market President Jerry Broughton.
Luce holds a bachelor of science degree and a master's in
business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army
Corps of Engineers in South Vietnam. A member of the Mobile
Rotary Club, he is a board member of the Florence Foundation,
University of South Alabama Foundation, Longleaf Alliance,
and several small private corporations. Luce is married to
the former Susan Jones of Birmingham, AL, and has three children.
Hancock opened its first downtown Mobile financial center
at Dauphin and St. Emanuel streets this past May. Broughton
said Hancock anticipates debuting new locations across from
the Daphne Wal-Mart and the Eastern Shore Center near Timber
Creek in August, the Cottage Hill area in September, and four
additional locations in late 2007 and 2008. Hancock Bank,
which consistently ranks among America's strongest, safest
financial institutions, operates more than 150 banking and
financial services offices and 130-plus ATMs along a four-state

border.
